Joseph M. Malecki Jr., DDS
Dr. Malecki is proud to come from a family of dentists – in fact, his father has been practicing for over 35 years in the Elmhurst community! He looks forward to meeting and caring for all of the patients of Sommers Family Dental, helping them achieve healthier, happier smiles that are truly built to last. Why Did You Decide to Become a Dentist?
Dr. Malecki’s initial interest in the dental field was definitely thanks to his family, but over time, he’s grown to love so many aspects of the work and its smile-inducing results. More than anything, he really enjoys building long-lasting relationships with patients and treating them just like members of his own family. His care approach is always centered around their needs first, with plenty of attention to detail, genuine compassion, and emphasis on the importance of preventive care.
Where Did You Study Dentistry?
Dr. Malecki achieved his Bachelor of Biological Sciences from the DePaul University, followed by his Doctor of Dental Surgery from the New York University College of Dentistry in New York City. Following graduation, he has gone to complete countless continuing education courses in order to further his skills for the sake of patients in need, including advanced training in painless tooth extractions, painless root canal therapy, and implant dentistry. He is a Certified Invisalign Provider as well and a proud member of the following organizations:

What Do You Do Outside of the Dental Office?
When he isn’t busy caring for patients, Dr. Malecki is a big Chicago Bears and Chicago Blackhawks fan. He grew up playing hockey and still enjoys occasionally lacing up his favorite skates when he can find some free time in his busy schedule. Other favorite hobbies include staying fit, playing golf, fishing, traveling, and reading a good book. Running is a definite passion in particular – so far, he’s successfully completed the Boston Marathon, Chicago Marathon, NYC Marathon, Chicago Half Marathon, and Rutgers Half Marathon!
